HARP Magazine: Everybodyfields - Alt-Country for Everybody

From the same label that brought you the Avett Brothers, North Carolina’s Ramseur Records, now comes the Everybodyfields, based in Johnson City, Tenn., but stompin’ and twangin’ in world-class style.

The band’s album Nothing Is Okay isn’t slated to drop until August 21, but they will be touring extensively all spring and summer (see tour dates, below) so you don’t have much excuse not to check ‘em out—consider this the HARP seal of approval.

The Everybodyfields comprise Jill Andrews (vocals, guitar, bass), Sam Quinn (vocals, guitar, bass) and Josh Oliver (keys and guitar), and on their MySpace page they list among their influences Neil Young, Emmylou Harris, The Band, Gillian Welch and David Rawlings, Bob Dylan, The Creedence Clearwater Revival, Joni Mitchell, All Things Not Jimmy Page, CSN, and Lefty Frizzell.

Want more? We are informed that the alt-country combo “offers melancholic interpretations of universal human stories set to achingly beautiful melodies and put to life with such instrumentation as lap steel, lead guitar, electric bass, and acoustic guitar. Quinn's echoing twang reverberates like a long-lost radio broadcast and provides a hard edge to Andrews’ pure, soothing tones. Straightforward and sure, their set’s gentle humor combined with their songs about real-life sorrows and hardships demonstrate an appreciation for tradition while conjuring up something that is not at all traditional.”

Check the aforementioned MySpace page for a musical preview of the album.
